Whether you’re new to Aberdeen and RGU or you’ve been studying with us for a while, finding new places to eat in the city is always a must! Luckily finding vegan places to eat in Aberdeen is easy and MBA student Kirstin shares the best vegan options you can find.
RGU is not affiliated with and does not endorse any of the businesses listed in the post. This post contains no paid for content and is the personal view of the author, Kirstin.
We’re so lucky to have many great vegan restaurants and cafes in Aberdeen but we also have vegan options across our campus catering outlets, so whether you’re exploring the city or studying on campus, we have plenty of options in order to satisfy those cravings!
Bonobo Cafe
Bonobo Cafe is a small café in the centre of Aberdeen. Offering mainly a selection of breakfast items and hot drinks, Bonobo also has an online shop and offers weekly veg box deliveries. Bonobo has a strong ethos and believes in empowering people, building strong communities and the importance of non-exploitation, alongside serving up delicious familiar dishes, in vegan form.
BioCafe
BioCafe offers healthy, fresh “free-from” options for breakfast and lunch as well as sugar free desserts and snacks. The café is run by a personal trainer who whips up indulgent goodies but without the refined sugar, making it suitable for diabetics. BioCafe also have a vending machine in the Trinity Centre offering a variety of fresh, vegan and vegetarian snacks and drinks!
FoodStory
Just off the main street in the city centre you’ll find FoodStory serving up tasty food, coffee and cakes from morning to evening. Whilst it’s not a completely vegan café, the majority of the food served is plant based. With an online shop selling a huge variety of items, an events space, yoga classes, arts and craft workshops and reggae nights, there really is something for everyone at FoodStory. Please note running of events may be different during the pandemic.
Roots Catering
Roots Catering is a 100% plant based business that serves up some incredible burgers and loaded fries! With a food truck at the Beach Boulevard, you’ll need to be there early to avoid waiting in a huge queue at the weekends. With Roots@Home, a Butchery coming soon and a takeaway service, this small business is making big moves in the city!
RGU Campus
Have a long day of classes or spending the day studying in the library? Then don’t worry, we have your vegan needs covered on campus too!
Plant Market is available in both Gray’s School of Art and the Ishbel Gordon Building, offering a delicious choice of vegan lunchtime dishes as well as a variety of vegan snacks available across campus.
Although not exclusively vegan, Fresh off the Chopping Board in RGU SPORT and Garthdee House Annexe provides freshly prepared salads, burritos and wraps which can all be made vegan as well.
To top it off, 6 of our catering outlets across campus have been awarded the Healthyliving Award PLUS!
