What to expect at our on-campus Open Days

Open Days are back for 2023! RGU is very excited to welcome prospective students back to campus to enjoy the full RGU Open Day experience. Here’s what to expect from our on-campus Open Days…

When are our Open Days?

This summer and autumn, we are running three on-campus undergraduate Open Days. Being on campus is the best way for you to explore your potential study environment, get a feel for the university and speak to course leaders, student support services and current students face-to-face! We can’t wait to welcome you to our beautiful riverside campus.

Below are the dates and times of our Open Days. To register, click whichever day you plan on attending and fill in the registration form:

Getting to Campus

There are ample car parking spaces available on campus and except for spaces outside of RGU SPORT, parking restrictions will not be enforced on Open Day.

Alternatively if you’re not going to be driving, First Bus Aberdeen services 1 & 2 operate between the City Centre and the Garthdee Campus on a regular basis and take you right into the heart of campus. Find out more information on how to get to the RGU Campus on the RGU website.

The Widening Access Team at RGU can provide financial support to eligible students from widening access backgrounds to help contribute towards the travel costs to attend university Open Days. Please refer to our webpage to find out if you are eligible for partial reimbursement of travel costs or you can email access@rgu.ac.uk.

When you arrive on campus, please make your way to the Sir Ian Wood Building to pick up your RGU Open Day Goody Bag outside on the plaza and to check in.

What to expect on the day

Our Open Days will provide prospective students with a wide variety of events to show the diversity of learning opportunities available at RGU. The events will be running across four different buildings on campus covering all the different schools and subjects at the university.

The Sir Ian Wood Building

You can choose to visit the Sir Ian Wood Building, The Ishbel Gordon Building, The Riverside Building, or Gray’s School of Art to attend a variety of events such as course introductions, interactive sessions with RGU staff, tours of different academic facilities – such as our Clinic Skills Centre, TV studio or Moot Court Room – as well as Q&As.

Additionally, you will find our Info Hub in the Sir Ian Wood Building, which is your opportunity to gather all the information you need about life at RGU, including:

Woolmanhill Halls of Residence will also be open for viewing an unoccupied flat between 10am and 5pm on each Open Day. Please note that limited free onsite parking at this accommodation site is available. If you don’t have a car, we will also be running a free return bus shuttle from campus. You can visit the Accommodation Stand at the ‘Info Fair’ for more details.

Campus Tours

The campus tours will be carried out by our very own students, and will give you the opportunity to see our stunning riverside campus in all its glory, that’s if the weather is on our side! The students will be able to provide the perfect insight into how to get around campus and where you can find everything you will need during your time as a student.

These tours are running throughout the day and depart at the amphitheatre in the Sir Ian Wood Building. They will take around 45 minutes to complete, so be sure to plan your day accordingly. If you’re not keen on a walking tour however we will have another form of transport available…

Rickshaw Rides

Enjoy a leisurely rickshaw ride across our campus and see all the best spots from the comfort of your seat. The Rickshaw rides are always a highlight of our Open Days so you really don’t want to miss out. Our Rickshaw Stop is located just outside of the Sir Ian Wood Building.
