Open Days are back! RGU is very excited to welcome prospective students back to campus for the first time in two years to get the full RGU open day experience. Here’s what to expect from our on-campus open days…
When are our Open Days?
This year we are running three On-Campus Undergraduate Open Days for anyone who wants to get a first hand look at studying at RGU. Below are the three dates and times of our three Open Days. To register, click whichever day you plan on attending and fill in the registration form:
- Saturday 2nd of October, 10:00 – 14-00
- Saturday 30th of October, 10:00 – 14:00
- Saturday 20th of November, 10:00 – 14:00
We can’t wait to welcome you to our beautiful riverside campus during one of our On Campus Open Days. Being on campus is the best way for you to explore your potential study environment, get a feel for the university and speak to course leaders, student support services and current students face to face!
Getting to Campus
There are ample car parking spaces available on campus and except for spaces outside of RGU SPORT, parking restrictions will not be enforced on Open Day.
Alternatively if you’re not going to be driving, First Bus Aberdeen services 1 & 2 operate between the City Centre and the Garthdee Campus on a regular basis and take you right into the heart of campus.
If you meet our ‘wider access’ criteria and are travelling to one of our open days from out with Aberdeen City, you can claim up to 75% of your travel costs back from us. Check if you meet our criteria or contact email@example.com
Remember to Check-In
When you arrive on campus, please make your way to the Sir Ian Wood Building to pick up your RGU Open Day Goody Bag. Make sure to click the “I’m Here” button from our e-mail to self check-in, which will let us know you’re here and be used as part of the university’s COVID-19 ‘Test & Protect’ check-in system to ensure everyone’s safety.
What’s on at Campus
Our On-Campus Open Days will provide prospective students with a wide variety of events to show the diversity of learning opportunities available at RGU. The events will be running across four different buildings on-campus covering all the different schools and subjects at the university.
The Sir Ian Wood building will be hosting events from The School of Engineering, The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment, The School of Computing and The School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences. This is also where you will be able to find our Info Fair where you can find out all you need about starting at RGU.
The Ishbel Gordon Building will host interactive sessions and course introductions from the School of Applied Social Studies, The School of Health Sciences as well as the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedic Practice. Keep your eyes peeled for some X-ray Suite Demonstrations and Q&A sessions from these schools too.
The Aberdeen Business School will have information from current student and alumni as well as presentations on the future of business. Also in the Business School will be the School of Creative and Cultural Business where you can learn more about courses like Journalism and Fashion Management just to name a few. Finally you will able to find information about The Law School where there will be a Q&A and interactive sessions in RGU’s Moot Court Room.
At the Gray’s School of Art you will be able to undertake communication design workshops and learn the basics of all things Adobe Creative Cloud. There will also be practical workshops in fashion, textiles and painting, and you will also have the opportunity to undertake a student led tour to see all the studios and facilities in one of RGU’s most exciting schools.
The campus tours will be carried out by our very own student ambassadors, and these will give you the opportunity to see our stunning riverside campus in all its glory, that’s if the weather is on our side. The students will be able to provide the perfect insight into how to get around campus and where you can find everything you will need during your time as a student. These tours are running throughout the day and meet at the amphitheatre in the Sir Ian Wood Building and will take around 45 mins so be sure to plan your day accordingly. If you’re not keen on a walking tour however we will have another form of transport available…
Enjoy a leisurely rickshaw ride across our campus and see all the best spots from the comfort of your seat. The Rickshaw rides are always a highlight of our Open Days so you really don’t want to miss out. Our Rickshaw Stop is located just outside of the Sir Ian Wood Building.

These rules are based on current public health information and must be followed by everyone who visits the campus.
In order to adhere to social distancing, our teaching spaces are subject to capacity restrictions. In effect, all activities taking place during our Open Days are subject to availability on a first come, first served basis.
We encourage you to bring friends or family along with you to explore our campus during our Open Days, however please be aware that whilst participating in activities in spaces which are likely to reach capacity – we ask that you bring a maximum of one accompanying guest with you at that time so that we can accommodate as many prospective students as possible.
