Summer of Sport at RGU

To celebrate this year’s incredible summer of sport, RGU SPORT is organising three events for the Euros, Wimbledon, and the Olympics. These “Play and Stay” sessions will allow you to try out a new physical activity and watch live sport.

Learn more about RGU’s Summer of Sport and our three events. ⬇️

Our Summer of Sport events are open to all students, staff, and community members and provided for free! They are very informal and casual meet-ups, and you can decide to drop in and leave at any time you want.

Feel free to come just to try out a new sport, just for the watching session, or for both, there is no expectation. As we know that food brings people together, and for the interest of balance, bringing food and baked goods is encouraged.

Here are our three upcoming events:

Play and Stay – Euros

Wednesday 19 June 2024

2.30pm: Teqball Table Tutorial

3pm: Croatia vs Albania

The UEFA Euro 2024 tournament is kicking off on Friday 14 June, with Scotland taking on Germany. With a diverse international community on campus, we know that many of you will be cheering for your team over the summer and we want to bring some of that energy to campus!

Before we start our screening of Croatia vs Albania, we will give you the opportunity to try out Teqball Table. Teqball is played on a curved table, similar to tennis table, with players hitting a football back and forth with any part of their body, except their arms and hands. It can be played between two or four players and is extremely fun!

Please meet us outside RGU SPORT to get involved!

Play and Stay – Wimbledon

Thursday 11 and Friday 12 July 2024

TBC: Pickleball

TBC: Gentleman’s Single Semi-Finals

Wimbledon will be taking place between Monday 1 July and Sunday 14 July. It is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and one of the four Grand Slams alongside the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open.

We invite you to come watch the Gentleman’s Single Semi-Finals on campus with us, with the opportunity to try Pickleball, a sport we have just introduced this January to RGU! Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, combining tennis, badminton, and table tennis together. It is easily accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
