The Cherry blossom tree event

Hello! My name is Imogen, I am from Edinburgh and I graduated with a first-class BA (Hons) in Events Management from RGU in 2017.

I chose RGU over any other university because of the amazing feedback I had heard about the quality of teaching. Another factor that heavily influenced my decision to study at RGU was that it had by far the best graduate employability rate in comparison to the other universities that offered my desired course.

I chose to study Events Management at RGU because of its outstanding curriculum. From reading the course details and testimonials online, I had very high expectation, however, when I enrolled in the course these expectations were exceeded!

The course delved deep into a range of business disciplines and gave a very well rounded understanding of each of them. The teaching was to a phenomenally high standard, too. Having lecturers that could convey their passion for their subject area was infectious and made learning a real joy.

The highlight of my time at RGU was events organising; it was extremely rewarding and inspiring to apply what I had learnt and couple it with hard work to create an occasion for people to enjoy. The Cherry Blossom Picnic in aid of CLAN Cancer Support was by far the most rewarding event I organised during my time at RGU. The event allowed me to experience working in a team and liaising with stakeholders, all while I had the constant support and encouragement of my lecturers.

RGU kept its promise in regards to the high employability rate. Prior to graduating and handing in my dissertation, I was very fortunate to secure a job assisting in the organisation of conferences. The company was understanding with regards to the remaining weeks before my dissertation hand-in and were impressed by my eager approach to finding work.

After my graduation, I got a job as the Sales and Events Coordinator at Dundas Castle and more recently I got an additional role as the Wedding Events Manager covering the maternity leave of my colleague.

I can wholeheartedly say that I love my job and enjoy coming to work and that’s not just because I get to work in a castle! I get to speak to people from all over the world and help them create their dream event, be this a wedding, a product launch or a family celebration.

It is an amazing feeling getting to work with your client and a range of stakeholders to execute an event that you know is going to produce timeless memories for all involved. Studying Events Management at RGU is something I will never regret!
