It’s the weekend and you are probably looking for something to do, something a little different maybe? You’ve already been to the cinema, you don’t fancy shopping and the weather’s just not right for the beach. I have a few alternatives for you on how to spend a weekend in Aberdeen.
It’s Friday night, you’ve finished Uni and you’re hankering to go out – Why not try bowling?
If you head towards the beach you will find Codonas amusement park, there is a 26 lane ten pin bowling alley along with a bar and restaurant. A game is £5.50 including shoe hire so you don’t have to spend too much for a game! They also do deals on certain nights so watch out for new offers. You might have to book in advance depending on how busy it is. There is a bar and restaurant within the alley so you can buy drinks and food while you play. Take a look at the website to find out more!
Saturday morning is here – activities can sometimes be weather dependant so maybe plan ahead for this! Back at the beach there is Codonas fun fair which is full of activities – There are arcades, penny machines, claw machines, dodgems, crazy golf (inside & out) and rides galore! There are also restaurants and cafes surrounding the area so you’re pretty much set for the day. Have a look at the Codonas website online! If it is nice outside you can grab an ice cream from along the esplanade and take a walk, if you go right down to the end of the River Dee you will come across the cute little village of Fittie – have a wonder round it’s such a nice place!
Sometimes it’s nice to have a chilled out Saturday but not everyone wants to stay in. You can often catch something on at the Lemon Tree on a Saturday! They have a wide variety of artists, comedians and musicians that play every week. You can get yourself drinks from the bar whether it be alcohol or a soft drink. If you are in the mood for comedy then I suggest heading to see a performance from Breakneck Comedy! There’s a variety of performances to suit all tastes and you can book a show for an event you may have coming up too. They have multiple venues across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire so keep an eye out if there are any near you! You can buy tickets on their website and find out more about future events.
Sundays are usually the last chance to be able to do something fun at the end of the week! If you’re in the mood to be active I suggest heading to the Linx arena for Ice skating, there are sometimes hockey games you can attend too. Next door there is a swimming pool that has loads of water slides, rapids, fountains and a wave machine too! Within this area there are nice walks and an 18-hole links golf course that runs parallel to the Aberdeen beach front.
If you are looking for an activity at night you can try cooking classes in Aberdeen! Nick Nairn does great classes, you can book these online. Classes take about 2-4 hours depending on what you choose. You can book a class this Sunday if you are quick! Thaikhun also do great classes and are based in Union Square.
So there you have it! A whole weekend of activities ready to go. I hope this inspires some of you to do something fun this weekend!
