Valentine’s Day is approaching and you might be struggling to think of something to do. Here are a list of alternative things to do in Aberdeen this Valentine’s Day!
Pittodrie Stadium (Football or Cinema)
Pittodrie Stadium is host to many football matches over the whole year, if you are a fan of the Dons (Aberdeen Football Club) you should keep up to date with the matches and invite your Valentine to a game. Pittodrie Stadium will be hosting a drive-in Cinema on Valentine’s night and will be showing Beauty and the Beast as it’s also the films 25th Anniversary. The film will be shown from 7pm-8.30pm in Pittodrie Stadium. It’s £25 per car and there will be a tuck shop (snacks) at the venue. You can find out more about the event here.
Breakout Games has proved extremely popular with people in Aberdeenshire. It involves teams of two or six being locked in a room filled with clues, puzzles, riddles, and brain teasers that they have to figure out within the sixty minute time allowance. The teams have to use this time to use their logical and problem solving skills in order to break out of the room. This is Aberdeen’s newest entertainment activity and has been very well received so far. You can find out more about Breakout Games on their website!
HMT (His Majesty’s Theatre)
His Majesty’s Theatre is a well-loved location for those that love musicals and stage shows. You can come here to watch many popular stage shows such as ‘Wicked’, ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘Thriller’ and many more. The HMT will be showing the stage production of ‘The Woman in Black’ on Valentine’s Day. Aberdeen Beach and Queens Links
Aberdeen Beach is most famous for its golden sand and is a very popular destination for walkers, surfers and windsurfers. You can walk end to end from the harbour to River Don, there is also a lovely little village called Fittie which is a famous tourist spot. You will often see dogs running around enjoying the beach or people just sat on the benches watching the waves. It’s a really nice place to go for a romantic walk – I would say this time of year it can be weather dependent – However if that doesn’t matter to you, you can always shelter away from the cold in one of the lovely cafés they have along the beach front for a coffee and some cake.
For those that love bowling you need to head down to the Queens Links! Within the Codona’s amusement park there is a 26 lane ten pin bowling alley along with a bar and restaurant. A game is £5.50 including shoe hire so you don’t have to spend too much for a game! They also do deals on certain nights so watch out for new offers. Take a look at the website to find out more!
The Lemon Tree is a venue that hosts amazing alternative entertainment, music and plays. They have a variety of artists, musicians, comedians that play every week. There is also a bar in the venue that serves alcoholic, soft and hot beverages. The Lemon Tree doesn’t have anything on on Valentine’s Day but if you are working that day or can’t make it you can always do it another day. The Lemon Tree will have ‘Old Roots New Roots’ playing on February 12th and the play Black Beauty on February 16th. Find out more about the Lemon Tree events coming up on their website!

Near the Aberdeen Beach there’s is an Ice rink along with a swimming pool next door. The Linx Ice rink is a great place to take your Valentine, even if you can’t skate it’s still a fun experience. There are hockey games you can attend throughout the year as well! You can also go swimming in the building next door where there are wave machines and flumes that you can go on. There are also cafés and restaurants situated nearby for when you need a break.
