RGU Magazine Society: Radar

What is Radar? Radar is a student lead team of creative people who work together to produce a magazine for the students at RGU! It includes articles which help you guys get around the university and Aberdeen and also plenty of interviews with some super awesome people.

A year ago, I tried to join some societies but being a fresher, I got overwhelmed with balancing assignments, a new part-time job and then also having to clean and cook … or rather learn how to cook! A year later and this is still a work in progress.

Now that I am in second year, I decided during the Fresher’s Fayre that I wanted to participate more and also start building up my experience in media related work. One of the societies I decided to join was RGU: Radar.

It’s been a tough year for Radar though, if you follow the media industry, many magazines and newspapers have been declining in sales, this also had its effect on our tiny little team here at Radar. This is why we have decided to launch an online version of the magazine. What’s great about this is that you will  receive an email and you can have a quick browse of the magazine home!

Interested in getting involved?

With our new online version you can submit articles online, so if you just want to publish the odd article whenever you think of something interesting, this is perfect for you. All you need to do is submit the article on the webpage, it will then be checked and edited by our team and then published. Easy as that!

However, we do want more people to join our team. You can be part of the committee, attend meetings, build up your volunteering hours and your portfolio. It’s all great fun. Radar is currently looking for more writers and editors and new designers and photographers. So if you’ve got the talent, just pop an email over at radar@rguunion.co.uk and join us!

Our new magazine, full of brilliant new articles from our current team, will be coming out soon. Check it out and get the scoop on some gaming reviews, an insight to the photography society and a meeting with an overseas student!
